So, at Happtu.com every domain purchase comes with a complementary logo design.

What types of names will I get on Happtu?

We have tried to balance the multiple types of names like Invented, obvious, and Composite.

There are three kinds of name:

1. Invented Names: These names will not be found in a dictionary, and often feel unfamiliar and slightly strange at first. But they soon become synonymous with the business behind them. Because they're unique, they stand out and get remembered; and they're easy to protect as trademarks, too.

Examples include : Rolex, Kodak, Lenovo, Lexus etc.

2. Obvious Name: Names like this are extremely easier to understand, day-to-day life words. They feel quite comfortable and familiar. Mostly used dictionary words creatively to justify the business categories. These words are very hard to find and typically consists of 2 to 3 words together.

Examples include : MamaEarth, BurgerKing, PlayStation, RedBull, AmericanExpress etc.

3. Composite Name : Names like this are a little easier to explain, and feel quite comfortable and familiar. They're also invented, but they give hints to their meaning by using elements of dictionary words, or combinations of these elements. Using parts of words like this means that these names can suggest qualities and concepts, without spelling them out.

Examples include : Netflix, Instagram, Microsoft, Infosys etc.

Why .com domains are really important?

The .com domain is the only domain that really matters.

A .com is the world’s default domain, but it’s not just easy to remember; it’s also a valuable business asset as it adds credibility and brand power. (Across the world there are thousands of businesses called Amazon, but there’s only one Amazon.com.)

The fact that the .com domain is still available to purchase is a good indication that there are no significant businesses using the name; any serious company would have already registered the .com domain.

Owning the .com domain protects your brand name. As contemporary businesses see an exact match .com domain as a must-have business asset, no serious business is going to adopt your business name in the future if the .com is not available to own.

You could consider registering your name as a trademark - but this only offers protection in a specific country and business sector - so even this would not guarantee that a name is unique. To many businesses, a .com domain is better than a trademark registration.

You could choose a business name and use another domain, like your local country domain. But would you really be happy that another business - that's possibly larger and more visible online - could be using your name but with a .com domain?

Yes. The clients can make a request on the website by entering their contact details by filling the form which is available on the home page. Happtu is in partnership with its sibling company 99logos, and after making the request, the clients will get a call from 99logos for further details.

What about my website?

A Domain Name simply gives your website an address on the internet, and also allows you to create an email account using that domain name (yourname@domain.com). Therefore a Domain Name Registrar will allow you to link your Domain Name with your website, even if your website and email are hosted by another organisation. In fact, your Domain Name, web hosting and email hosting could be managed by three separate providers.

How do I link my domain to my website and set up email addresses?

When the domain transfer is complete, you will have full access to the domain settings via your account (or control panel) with your Domain Name Registrar.

Trademark and Registration Related

Are Happtu names trademarked?

No. It's not possible for us to 'pre-register' the names or logos on our website as trademarks. This is because trademarks can only be registered by the owners of existing businesses, in specific countries or territories, and in relation to specific goods or services.

Therefore you will only be able to apply for trademark registration once you have purchased the domain name from us, and registered your company.

What if the name I have chosen is already registered as a trademark?

First of all, Happtu is more of a premium .com domain provider company so we focus more on the .com which is a global online recognition.

A trademark only offers protection in specific countries or territories, and in relation to specific goods or services. So it might not be relevant if your chosen name (or something similar to it) is already registered as a trademark.

For example, your chosen name could be registered by another company as a trademark in India, for the provision of Computer Services, but your business is in the United States and related to Carpet Making, so the registration is not relevant.

If in doubt, you should consult with a Trademark Attorney.

Are Happtu names registered company names?

No. Happy sells trading names and domain names – not registered company names.

You will have to register the business name with your regional/local authorities with your own personal and business details - it's not something we can do for you.

What's the difference between a registered trademark and a registered company name?

Registering your name as a trademark gives you exclusive rights to the use of your name, and can prevent anyone else from using it. These rights are legally protected.

The registration of your company or business name, however, is simply a legal obligation and allows you to trade legally, issue invoices ...and pay taxes.

Although it can provide valuable protection, registering a trademark can be a time-consuming and costly exercise, and many businesses will not need this level of protection.

Does Happtu guarantee the name will get trademarked successfully?

Every day hundreds of trademarks get to the Indian Trademark Registry. Trademark Registration process takes 6 to 18 months to get registered, so there is a slight possibility that someone can also go for a similar name, because of such reasons, nobody can give you a 100% guarantee to get your trademark registered.

We create the names from scratch to make them unique so, the longer you wait to register your trademark the possibility of someone else getting a similar trademark is high, so you should get your brand name registered as soon as possible once you completed your project with us. Happtu checks the availability of the trademark at initial level, and it is the responsibility of the clients to check it from their legal attorney.

I've found a name I like - what do I do next?

Once you've found a business name you like, you can check the availability of the full company name that you want to register on your country's corporate registry website.

Registering the formal business name is usually straightforward. If in doubt, you should consult with a Legal Attorney.

What if a business has already registered the name I have chosen?

Even if a company is already registered with your new brand name - or a name similar to it - it's easy and common to make your formal, registered name unique by adding a 'qualifier' word to your full legal name that's specific to your business - like 'Food Service' or 'Pharmaceuticals' or more general ones, like 'Management', 'Marketing' or 'International'.

The authorities will have to approve your full, formal name to ensure that it is clearly distinct from any other, similar name in your sector. So check with them if you are in any doubt.

Also, there are minimum chances of this scenario as the company with the same name would surely get the matching .com domain name as well. If the name is registered that means they have seen the name on the Happtu platform only.

After all, it's a .com domain that is going to rank on the search engines.
